If you have been on the North Coast 500, we lie right on this famous route 57 miles north west of Lairg; with the closest main airport south east of us at Inverness.
Designed by three local golf enthusiasts – Lachie Ross, Ian Morrison and Francis Keith – and opened in 1988, Durness Golf Club nestles on Scotland’s north coast and is Britain’s most north westerly golf course on the mainland. We are a 9 hole links, but with a second set of tees that provides a fine 18 hole experience, set against some of the most stunning landscape backdrops you will see in the golfing world.

I'm not a golfer and in any case I am past the time of life when I could play, but I love this course and used to come to Balnakeil Bay to do my bird watching. The whole area holds very fond memories for me.
Course and Hospitality was first class - even arranged weather we do not expect at Durness 😎

Always going for it in 2 good drive leaves 7or 8 iron into the wind different story 🤣
Always go for green in 2 but have polluted the loch with far too many Pro V1’s over the years - one of the best holes iv ever played worth the trip for this and 9/18th alone 😍
I like the 8th/17th good drive need and then a bit of luck into a green with your 2 nd shot, leading to amazing views..
